Recently I got an awesome knife from MT Knives. It is the MT Knives Genesis Neck Knife. It is a fantastic knife with an amazing edge on it. The knives from MT Knives are NOT mass produced, they are individually hand crafted from a great blade maker.
To be completely honest while I really like the knife, I was not a fan of the neck knife. It is a knife in a kydex sheath hanging around your neck. Not ever wearing a necklace is probably the reason that I was not a fan. Being open to trying new things though and really liking the knife I gave it a shot. Now after having the knife for a while something feels wrong if I don’t have the knife on. It is great having this knife available at all times for any task that it may be needed for. It also leaves your pockets open to carry other items which should also include another bladed item that you may pefer to use over a quality knife like opening a box which can help to dull a blade. Even while the steel that is used on these knives is great and it holds it’s edge it is possible to dull the blade. One thing to be very careful of with this knife is how you take it out of it’s kydex sheath. If you do not remove it properly it is likely that you will cut yourself. Removing it without injury is very simple. Simply hold the knifes handle and quickly pull it from the sheath. This is one handed operation. Using two hands is the key to getting yourself cut. The most common way to cut yourself is to hold the sheath in one hand and pull the knife out with the other which can esily lead to a sliced open palm. Returning the knife is easy as well just start the blade into the sheath then point it against your chest and slide it into the sheath. The included paracord necklace has a breakaway fastener on it so that if your knife was to get caught in something it will break away and not pull you into harms way.
If you are looking for the best knife available a custom knife from MT Knives is the way to go. If you are looking for the second best knife available the Genesis Neck Knife from MT Knives is the way to go.
